Safe Futures
Safe Futures provides free and confidential support for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse or are showing concerning or harmful sexual behaviours.
At Fair Foundations, we work alongside children, young people and their families to support their safety, wellbeing and healthy development.
Safe Futures is a free support program for children and young people up to 18 years old and their families, primarily in Fairfield LGA and surrounding areas of South West Sydney.
Who we support
Safe Futures supports children and young people up to 18 years old who:
- have experienced sexual abuse
- are showing sexual behaviours that are concerning or harmful
We also support parents, carers, and families.
Safe Futures primarily supports families living in Fairfield and surrounding communities in South West Sydney.
Early support makes a difference
Children and young people may show different sexual behaviours as they grow and develop. Some behaviours are a normal part of growing up, while others may be a sign that they need extra support.
Getting support early can help keep children and young people safe and support their wellbeing, development and relationships.
If you are worried about a child or young person’s behaviour, you do not need to have all the answers before contacting us. Our team can listen to your concerns and talk with you about what support may be appropriate.
How Safe Futures can help
Our team can:
- provide counselling and emotional support for children and young people
- help parents and carers understand and respond to concerning or harmful sexual behaviours
- support your family’s safety and wellbeing
- provide practical support for families
- help families work with schools and other services
- connect you with specialist and local services when needed
Support may be provided to the child or young person individually or together with their family, depending on their needs.
Support for every family
Safe Futures welcomes families from all cultures and backgrounds, with a focus on supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
We understand that every family is different. Support may include:
- support in your language and translated resources, where available
- interpreters
- flexible support based on your family’s needs
- help connecting with trusted local services and community organisations
We will work with you in a way that respects your culture, family and individual needs.
How to get support
Parents and carers can contact Safe Futures directly.
You can also speak to your school, child and family service, child protection service, youth justice service or health professional if you would like their support with the referral process.
