Fair Foundations launches new brand to mark over 50 years of community impact

Fairfield, NSW – 20 October 2025

Community First Step has launched a new brand identity and name, Fair Foundations, marking a bold new chapter for the organisation as it continues its mission of creating strong communities and fulfilling lives by disrupting the cycle of disadvantage in Fairfield and Greater Western Sydney.

Founded in 1973, the organisation has long been a trusted place of support for people facing social and economic disadvantage. What began as a safe landing place for new migrants and refugees has grown into a leading for-purpose organisation supporting people of all ages and backgrounds.

“Our new name, Fair Foundations, reflects both our purpose and heritage” said Pandora Patterson, CEO. “‘Fair’ connects to our passion for equity and justice, as well as our roots in Fairfield. while Foundations speaks to strength, stability, and the solid ground on which everyone can build a good life.”

Shaping our future

The previous name no longer fully reflected who the organisation is today or the impact it creates in the community. With the name Fair Foundations, they enter a new chapter that reflects their heritage and strengthens their ability to respond to community needs as they evolve.

This change is also part of the organisation’s future direction and Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which includes a commitment to ‘Elevating Our Presence’. Strengthening their brand identity is part of this commitment, ensuring they can purposefully build their profile to more effectively deliver on their vision of empowering the communities they work with.

“We rebranded to ensure our identity reflects who we are today and where we are headed”, added CEO Pandora Patterson. “It was important to have a name that honours our history, our Fairfield roots, while also resonating with the wider communities across Greater Western Sydney we are proud to support. This change is about more than a new look, it’s about strengthening visibility and trust, amplifying our advocacy for equity and justice, and ensuring our brand reflects both the services we provide and the voice we bring to the issues that matter for our community.”

A modern and inclusive new identity

The refreshed identity includes a modern and inclusive visual look that reflects a stronger sense of community and belonging. Their new logo is built on the equals sign (=), created by transforming the two ‘F’s of Fair Foundations. This simple yet powerful symbol represents fairness, equity, and justice, as a reminder of the values that shape their work.

The new photography puts people and place at the forefront, capturing the everyday lives and shared spaces of Fairfield and Greater Western Sydney. They have also introduced a handwritten “Hello” in some of the most spoken languages in Fairfield: English, Arabic, Assyrian, Vietnamese, and Chinese, as a way to connect with and reflect their diverse communities.

Honouring our history, building fairer futures

For more than 50 years, the organisation has stood alongside its community, breaking down barriers, creating opportunities, and providing vital support for people facing disadvantage. While the name has changed, its purpose remains the same: to help people find their place and forge a fair future.

“Our new brand is a commitment to the future we want to build with our community. Fair Foundations honours our history and carries us forward with clarity, so we can continue creating strong communities and fulfilling lives together”, said Pandora Patterson.
