DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the stories and cultures of refugee mothers and their young children in Fairfield LGA through two creative workshops with artist Anney Bounpraseuth.\n\n\n\n\nOver two weeks\, the Nhà Alwan – Colours of Home workshops provide a creative space for mums and their children to connect\, share stories\, and build meaningful relationships. \n\n\n\nTogether\, participants will contribute to a large\, collaborative artwork using fabric while celebrating culture\, heritage\, and identity in an environment that strengthens a sense of belonging. \n\n\nIn this workshop\, you’ll make your own fabric square (an applique)\, using: \n\nUpcycled fabrics: Giving new life to recycled materials.\nIron-on designs: Easy ways to attach shapes to your fabric.\nEmbroidery: Adding beautiful hand-stitched details.\nMachine sewing: Learning to use a sewing machine.\n\n\n\n\n\nBring a piece of your story: Do you have a special fabric at home? We can help you sew a small piece of it into your artwork so your memories become part of the exhibition.\nCreate at your own pace: You don’t have to finish everything during the workshop. You can take your piece home and keep working on it in your own time if you’d like.\nBe part of an exhibition: Once all squares are complete\, they will be stitched together into one large artwork with the final piece being displayed at Powerhouse Youth Theatre for the community to see. \n\n\n\nMeet the artist: Anney Bounpraseuth is an artist born in Australia. DESCRIPTION:Our Youth Drop-In Service\, located within the Fairfield Youth & Community Centre\, is a safe and supportive place for young people aged 12–24. \nRun by our skilled Youth and Family Support Specialists\, it offers free access to sports\, activities\, tailored support\, as well as a welcoming space to socialise and have fun.  \n\n\nWhat you’ll find at the Youth Drop-in Service\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nState-of-the-art sports facilities: Basketball\, soccer\, volleyball\, touch football\, trampolining\, table tennis\, and more\n\n\nGames and activities: Pool tables\, foosball\, board and card games\, arcade machines\, free Wi-Fi\, and computer access\n\n\nIndividual support: Friendly Youth Support Specialists available for guidance and case management\n\n\nSpecialised support programs: Mentoring\, youth justice conferences\, Work and Development Orders\, and access to services like Legal Aid.\n\n\nEmployment help: Every Wednesday\, our team can guide you on how to search for jobs\, enrol in courses\, prepare for interviews\, or create your resume.\n\n\nWorkshops: We run workshops that support Young People to develop their skills and help build connection to their peers. These can include Barbering Workshops\, Drumming classes and employment and career related workshops.\n\n\nOpen Monday to Thursday\n3pm–6pm
