Born from the heart of the Fairfield community in 1973, our organisation was founded by the people, for the people.

Historically a landing place for migrants and refugees, social isolation and inequity have long been prevalent issues in our community, as new residents strive to find safety, purpose, and a sense of belonging. 

Seeing this firsthand, a group of volunteers came together to do what they could to make a difference. They had a vision for an inclusive and supported community, a fair and just Fairfield, and established the Fairfield Community Council for Social Development to bring that vision to life. 

From day one we have been the safe landing our community needs. We’ve built services that bridge language barriers, enable social inclusion, provide life-changing support, and empower the community to create solutions together.  

Our deep roots in the Fairfield area have led to hard-won place-based understanding and strong community trust that informs and inspires everything we do. 

In 2025, we are introducing a new name: Fair Foundations.  While we have changed our name, we haven’t changed our purpose. Today, Fairfield and Greater Western Sydney remains one of Australia’s most disadvantaged areas and we continue to operate out of our love for humanity and social justice. We are here creating strong communities and fulfilling lives by disrupting this cycle of disadvantage head on, helping people find their place and forge a fair future.
